The activities of the Companies Section are summarized as follows:

Registration of business entities

The Companies Section is the competent authority for registering companies, business names, partnerships, overseas companies, and European companies. Furthermore, the Companies Section provides the opportunity to commence business activities in the Republic of Cyprus through the redomiciliation of a foreign company and the cross-border merger.

Maintaining an updated business entities' Register

The Companies Section to ensure that adequate and up-to-date information is maintained on the Register, records all amendments in the particulars of registered business entities, annual reports and financial statements, charges and mortgages, as well as changes in the receiver/management register. Furthermore, the Companies Section issues certified copies to certify the above data.

Publication of the business entities register

The Companies Section provides the possibility to conduct electronic search in the particulars of a registered business entity. Notably, basic information such as a company’s existing directors and secretary is provided free of charge. In addition, by paying the relevant fee a complete search in the electronic file of a business entity can be conducted.

Monitoring compliance of business entities

In order to achieve optimum compliance with the statutory obligations of all registered business entities, the Companies Section implements all relevant actions including the strike off, of non-compliant entities.
