Applying to incorporate a business name

Once your proposed name has been approved and provided that you have taken the relevant decisions regarding the incorporation of your business name, you may proceed with the submission of the application for the incorporation of business name, within one month from the date of commencement of business, either via e-filing or by hand/via post.

Online Business Name registration

You may submit your request online through the Registrar’s of Companies e-filing system, by submitting the relevant online form accompanied by the following:

• solemn declaration of witness of signatures;
• permission, consent or pre-approval by the appropriate governmental authority or appropriate body in case it is necessary for the use of words or expressions and/or due to the nature of business respectively, in case it has not been submitted already with the application for name approval; and
• the amount of eighty euro (€80) payable by credit card.

To accelerate the business name registration process, an additional fee of forty euro (€40) is paid.

You are advised to refer to the main criteria of review and the most frequent reasons for rejection so as to acquire a better understanding of what is required and to facilitate the process.

If you are a registered user, you may proceed with the electronic submission of the incorporation of a business name, otherwise you must first obtain access to e-filing services.

Registration of a business name by hand/via post

Alternatively, you may register a business name by hand/post by submitting:

• the application for registration of business name (form EE1),
• permission, consent or pre-approval by the appropriate governmental authority or appropriate body in case it is necessary for the use of words or expressions and/or due to the nature of business respectively, in case it has not been submitted already with the application for name approval; and
• the amount of eighty euro (€80) for the registration (payable in cash, by cheque, through an account maintained with the Department of the Registrar Companies or through bank transfer).

To accelerate the registration of a business name's process, an additional fee of forty euro (€40) is paid.
